In January 1917, Edward Thomas entrained for France from an army camp in Wiltshire, he had spent the night before seeing his daughter for the last time at Arthur Ransome's house near Tisbury. These diaries recount, in his observational and reflective prose, those few months before his death on the Easter Monday. It is illustrated with rare contemporary photographs and with original photographs by Robert Tilleard.
